Life Influenced By “Camp” Art: Met Gala 2019

The Costume Institute Gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, also known as the Met Gala is the biggest fundraising fashion event in history. It was founded by publicist Eleanor Lambert and since 1995, the event has been chaired by Anna Wintour, the EIC of US Vogue.
Today, Met Gala gathers the most influential faces from the realms of fashion, film, music and art to raise for the Met’s Costume Institute and celebrate its latest exhibition with this year’s theme: Camp: Notes On Fashion. “Camp”, which also means “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration” challenged all the fashion designers to bring their A-game to the carpet. It marks the event’s 71st anniversary, co-chaired by Lady Gaga, Alessandro Michele, Harry Styles and Serena Williams. It took place on the first Monday of May.
Featuring more than 180 fashion pieces, the exhibition stunned everyone from the origins of the 17th century, specifically the court of Versailles. The eccentric aesthetic of the event celebrated the beauty of fashion that made the night truly remarkable.
