Hitting The Streets: Luxury’s Rising Streetwear Obsession
Today’s fashion landscape is turning upside-down. Prominent streetwear designers lead top ateliers, from Raf Simons (the Belgian who hopped from Dior to Calvin Klein) to Demna Gvasalia (who rocked the Balenciaga boat alongside his Vetements label). Endless collaborations have sprung up too, like the latest Burberry X Gosha Rubchinskiy drop.
What has changed? As Luca Solca, luxury goods head of Exane BNP Paribas, notes in a Business of Fashion interview: “…Established consumers already own all the luxury icons they need — their wardrobes are full of them. Today [they] expect novelty and innovation if they are to part with their money.” That same novelty is trickling up these storied ateliers.
In this latest luxury review, we list three elegant examples from the dressiest celebrities:
Kendall Jenner wearing a Chanel fanny pack
The supermodel-social media star is bringing back the iconic number, in an emerald green Chanel fanny pack. Its rich hue and golden logo contrasts the touristy roots this waist bag is known for.
Jared Leto in a Gucci bomber jacket
With Alessandro Michele at its helm, Gucci has embraced embroidery, from its slinky gowns to its casual and oh-so-popular bomber jackets. 30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto is seen here sporting a sky blue piece in silver and green embellishments. Renaissance meets athleticism indeed.
Olivia Palermo in bejeweled Roger Viver sneakers
Socialite and model Olivia Palermo often wears this pair of Roger Viviers everywhere, from her usual town escapades to red carpet premieres. She wears the ultra-modern Viv sneaker, made with silk satin, topped off with a glittering crystal buckle.
These three are only the cherries on top of the expanding street style cake. Seeking your own handcrafted streetwear piece? #FindYourLuxury with our luxury managers, dedicated to scouring the world’s fashion capitals for your ideal wardrobe item.
